Landcraft on Target – July 2012

Summer had arrived (apparently) which prompted another summer social - Clay pigeon shooting.

Having congregated in the car park of the Taff Valley Activity and Quad Centre and with no tweed in site, we were all bundled into the back of a farm Landrover and taken for a brisk jaunt across VERY agricultural roads to the shooting range to partake in an evening`s clay pigeon shooting, . Having had our safety briefing, scattered the resident sheep, and been warned of the forms that we would need to complete should we shoot anybody, we donned ear defenders and set about obliterating as many clays as we could.

The weather improved and the competition was rife with all aiming to be top gun. Having started with slow moving single clays we progressed onto two clays in quick succession and the ultimate test - two clays at once.

Having expended 25 cartridges each and unintentionally conserved many a clay the scores were totted up and again youth triumphed over experience with Dan, the youngest member of the team who had never shot before, emerging as a clear winner with 21 of 25 clays shot.

Having congratulated Dan (through gritted teeth) we all reluctantly bundled back into the Landrover for the return journey to the car park.

We bid our hosts (and the Landrover) farewell and retired to the farmers bar in the local hostelry for some soft seats and welcome refreshment.

A good evening was had by all.
