Landcraft Employees go back to School – November 2014
Having recently completed the soft landscaped works to the first Phase of the new Penarth Learning Centre, On a wet and cold November morning we went back to school to help Year 7 and 10 pupils from St Cyres School plant a selection of native hardwood trees that had been donated to them by the woodland trust.
With trepidation (despite reassurance from Miss Tomley) our employees first met pupils from the eco club who included pupils from all year groups who were keen to get involved. They were then faced with 30 eager Year 7’s who were clearly excited to be spending an hour out of lessons planting trees (and getting muddy). Finally it was the Year 10’s, who despite early misgivings about getting muddy, fully got involved in the planting.
Upon completion of each planting session we also participated in an enjoyable question and answer session with each group which thankfully was overseen by Miss Tomley (none of us being brave enough to face the children without backup!).
A big thank you to Miss Tomley and all the pupils who took part as they really did get involved and made the experience and enjoyable one for us.
